Recently searching an old roll of wheats I found a 1941 plain with the one slanted at about 2 o'clock position. Can you relate on this? Thanks, Louis B.

Seen frequently, this is the result of damage caused by a coin counting and rolling machine. It is often the last digit of the date or the LI of the word LIBERTY that will show this damage. The machine simply moves the metal around the rim of the coin in such a way as to make the numeral look slanted.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, Bill
